Allegedly, Cromwell's troops were encamped here before the Battle of Dunbar in 1603.
Designed by Old Tom Morris around 1850, Dunbar East Links situated on the estuary of the Firth
of Forth, is a breathtaking layout of a Championship links course that stretches across 6404 yards of coastal
terrain.
All of the major Scottish Golf Championships have been played here, The Scottish Amateur,
Professional Championship and Scottish Boys' Championship. It has been used as an Open qualifying venue
on several occasions in the past most recently in 2002.
Renowned for its friendly welcoming atmosphere, playing at Dunbar East Links is an experience that
is not soon forgotten, offering all year round golf.
This is a classic links golf course, with outstanding views over the Firth of Forth, May Island and
towards the distant outline of Fife. Dunbar East Links is on the eastern edge of Dunbar, lying within
the county of East Lothian which is historically known as the "Cradle of Golf".
